Order the EPA to agressively investigate the role neonicotinoid pesticides play in the troubling die-off of bee colonies

Created by D.S. on April 07, 2013

Collapse of bee colonies has reached a critical point, with 40-50% of commercial beehives dying off in 2012*. These pollinators are irreplaceable and vital to modern agriculture and our economy.

Some research has implicated the neonicotinoids clothianidin, thiamethoxam and imidacloprid in the die-off. While the industry makes excuses, countries of the European Union are considering greater regulation and restriction of these compounds.

The United States must not be left behind --- act swiftly by ordering the EPA and other federal agencies to aggressively investigate neonicotinoids to prevent a wider bee die-off and further damage to our economy. Stand with farmers, bee-keepers, scientists, and citizens for the bees.
