Order every state to have a standing militia at all times.

I, like many, have heard much debate concerning the right to bear arms. I wish to discuss another aspect of this amendment. I believe it would be beneficial to raise a militia. Not because I fear the federal government is after us. I believe it would instill a needed sense of community and patriotism. I also believe that the federal government cannot always respond as quickly as needed to every threat. Local forces may be quickly overwhelmed in events of terrorism for instance. It may be hours before they can reach us with the necessary force or aid. Furthermore, while we are currently safe I believe it is foolish to wait for a threat before training for one.
This militia would be trained in up to date technology and methods for responding to various crises.
