Current commercial aircraft black boxes comprising of Flight Data recorder (FDR) & Cockpit Voice recorder (CVR) are a few decades old & behind modern technology. CVRs still only record the last 0.5 to 2 hours of cockpit voices & sounds. Black box batteries last only 30 days, not enough time to locate & recover lost flights from ocean depths esp in bad weather conditions.
Order the FAA and IATA to mandate new CVRs that record 24 hours or more of cockpit sounds and new black box batteries that last at least 90 days. Combine this with mandatory GPS tracking of all commercial aircraft recorded on ground based databases. This would enable lost flights to be found quickly with low cost.
