The Berkeley County, SC Office of the Solicitor, in collusion with the Charleston Police Department, and the Berkeley County Department of Social Services have engaged in practices to alter the outcome of criminal trials, and have used the threat of removal of a child to enforce their will upon a victim to sign false statements. The SC State office of DSS has admitted that the Berkeley County office engaged in inappropriate and illegal conduct, but the state 'does not have the resources to investigate.' Additionally, the Solicitor's office, in collusion with the CPD, have engaged in denying civil rights to disabled veterans, have incarcerated said veterans without charge, seeking to blackmail veterans into pleading guilty to gain their release.
