The NRA is against Smart Gun technology being mandated. Prove to them that it is safe and effective by ordering all Federal Police officers to transition to Smart Guns. This is something the President can do today without the need to get a law passed. Issue an Executive Order that allows only Smart Guns to be purchased from this day forward and require that all federal police guns be smart guns by whatever time is reasonable to complete the transition. Police officers are at the most risk of having their own guns be used against them by criminals and they must take their guns home at night - putting their families at risk - even if they don't want a gun in their home otherwise. There is no reason Obama should not act immediately.
