Order the Federal Bureau of Investigation to cease activities in regards to additional powers for wiretapping.

Created by B.K. on May 18, 2013

Please instruct Federal law enforcement agencies to cease their push for broader wiretapping laws such as CALEA II.

The newest push by the FBI, nicknamed CALEA II, calls for p2p communications tools such as Skype, Google Hangouts, mobile phones and other computer related, non tel-co softwares to have "back doors" built into them by default to enable the FBI and other enforcement agencies to more easily intercept and monitor communications between citizens.

This would:
1) Introduce additional security risks to end - users of communications software by requiring the softwares to have open ports that can be exploited by criminals.

2) Hamper the development of Open Source software

3) Cause additional wasteful spending by the government.

4) Be easily overcome by criminal elements.
