order the Federal Highway administration post "condition status" signs at the approach of every major bridge.

Created by M.N. on September 22, 2011

We have thousands of substandard bridges in our country. Many of us have no idea of the condition of a particular highway bridge. If we did know, we may choose a different route or avoid that bridge all together, plus it puts our law makers on notice of their responsibility to ensure we have safe bridges to cross. Had such a sign been posted in Minneapolis, I am sure money would have been found to repair that bridge thuis avoiding disaster. A Green sign could indicate its general safety status a yellow cound indicate some level of caution and a red sign should indicate the condition does not meet safety standards for the load and volume of traffic.
