The sale of assault weapons has skyrocketed since President Obama took office and since the massacre at Newtown when the nation spoke up loudly for a change in our gun culture. Discussion of regulating or restricting sales of assault weapons has caused a boom in their sales. This exacerbates the very problem the country is trying to come to grips with.
I propose that the President issue an Executive Order establishing a moratorium on the sale of military style assault weapons until Congress acts to establish or not new regulations regarding sales and/or possession of assault weapons. We need to prevent the problem from worsening due to fear and paranoia. Putting more assault weapons on the streets now jeapordizes everyone's safety, and public safety should be paramount now as always
