Social Security requires the final or last monthly payment prior to death be returned whether the 1st or 31st day of the month creating a hardship for surviving family members who must shoulder this expense. This excessive expense hardship needs to end. The Social Security Administration shall be instructed to end the requirement the final monthly payment (not the funeral payment) be returned.
