Order the state of New Jersey to repeal its unconstitutional firearm laws requiring justification of need to carry a gun

Created by B.F. on May 16, 2012

The state of New Jersey currently requires citizens who wish to carry a firearm for personal protection to write a statement explaining their "need" to carry a firearm. These applications are denied far more often than not.

What if we had to justify a "need" to speak freely, or practice our religion? What if we had to apply for permission to have the police not ransack our houses at whim? The Second Amendment is no different than the First and Fourth - it is a RIGHT. Our justification for carrying a firearm is the fact that the Constitution of the United States, which trumps state law, says we can.

The federal government is responsible for ensuring that the Constitution is adhered to. We therefore ask the Obama administration to order New Jersey to repeal these illegal measures.
