Regular U.S. citizens must pay premiums for all insurance they wish to elect. The most costly is medical insurance.
As a result, I advocate that all members of Congress and the Senate no longer get help from the American taxpayer in funding their own work insurance, including medical insurance. Like other Americans, they must get their own insurance at current market rates with no special deals from insurers.
This action would help lower the deficit and expose our lawmakers to the challenges that most American citizens face in getting healthcare. Also, a Presidential Commission will monitor each lawmaker's actions in getting insurance to ensure that there are no special deals or help from lobbyists. In other words, there are no more free benefits for lawmakers paid by the taxpayer.
