We petition the Obama Administration to order that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff for a period of five days at all public buildings and grounds following ALL mass shootings in the United States.
We define "mass shootings" as events with four or more casualties - killed or wounded.
The purpose of this measure would be to encourage discussion of actionable policy aimed at decreasing the frequency and severity of gun violence in America. While merely symbolic, we believe this would be a regular reminder to our public servants (and all Americans) of the many victims who have suffered and will continue to suffer if we fail to make real progress as a nation.
