Trade unions originally made the USA the great industrial giant it became, but are now totally outdated and are no longer needed. The original need for unions are now covered by laws and regulations. Unions have priced american made products out of sight and by doing so have forced their own member's jobs overseas.
Currently, a trade union's only purpose is to pit labor against management and threaten to close down the very companies that pay the workers, therby eliminating the very funding of the union. Detroit is the perfect example of a union run town. If the unions are allowed to continue the whole of the USA will be a wasteland from coast to coast.
