Far too often doctors are prescribing benzodiazepines (anxiolytics/hypnotics) to people who may well have moderate to severe anxiety.What they fail to tell you is how quickly your body gets addicted to these quickly. Yes, they are addicting and not just "habit forming" as doctors like to call them. In as little as two weeks a person may show some form of dependence. Beyond this dependence, people are taking them for years. Apart from the normal side-effects of drowsiness and memory problems, the withdrawal effects from these are unbearable. They include nausea, vomiting, pounding heart, heart palpitations, fever, diarrhea, increased anxiety, seizures, paranoia, psychosis, suicidal thoughts, suicide, and death. It is said that benzodiazepine withdrawal is worse than heroin.
