Outlaw captivity of all cetaceans in the U.S. and order immediate transition to sanctuaries and back to the wild ocean

Created on March 27, 2016

On behalf of Lolita at Miami Seaquarium, to Tilikum at Sea World, and every other cetacean in captivity in the U.S. and it's territories; I petition that all cetaceans be placed in transitional coastal sanctuaries by the end of 2018.

Years of scientific evidence proves that these animals do not belong in captivity, they are migratory animals in nature and it is cruel and inhumane to trap them in tiny pens. Not to mention keeping these animals in captivity is dangerous to their caretakers as these animals are unpredictable and wild.

By transitioning these intelligent creatures to open ocean sanctuaries, they will be rehabilitated and ultimately be returned to the wild ocean where they belong. The sanctuaries should be monitored by veterinary staff and specialists that can provide care.
