Gerrymandering is destroying our democracy. It allows congressmen to choose, geographically, their voters, rather than having the voters choose them. This results in the election and re-election of otherwise incompetent and extremist politicians who have no obligation to the electorate as a whole, but are devoted to the agenda of a small minority of fanatics.
If this is not corrected, we will continue to have an impotent government constantly in gridlock, while the American people suffer.
None of the major issues facing our nation will be adequately addressed until this crime against democracy is outlawed, and an impartial system replaces it.
