A pet owner that has their cat(s) declawed, does so for strictly aesthetic purposes-to disable the natural cat function of stretching and trimming their claws. Instead of educating themselves on feline behavior and avoidance techniques, these cat owners pay a veterinarian to surgically remove the cats toes, up to the 1st knuckle. See diagram of the procedure- https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/33952_411856612242717_123095...
Declawing is illegal in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. They understand how painful and unnecessary this practice is and the U.S. should follow suit and advocate for feline education and training.
