Politicians in the US receive millions of dollars in lobbying money from special interest groups who pay to get laws passed which benefit themselves and harm the public.
This is nothing short of legalized bribery, and undermines democracy. Instead of passing laws supporting the interests of the people, Congress instead passes laws supporting the interests of those who can pay the most.
