outlaw the practice of infant ear-piercing.

Created by C.S. on January 05, 2013

The piercing of an infant's ears has no place in the developed world. In the United States, parents can have their baby daughter's ears pierced at the mall, at the doctor's office, even at the hospital on the very day of her birth.

Similar to the practice of infant circumcision, infant ear-piercing is perhaps worse because it has absolutely no potential health benefits and is solely based on vanity.

It is shocking that in 2013 it is legal to punch holes in an infant's ears that serve no medical purpose. Even more shocking is that medical personnel, the very people who are dedicated to health and well-being, are often responsible for performing these body modifications on babies and children.

I am petitioning for the outlawing of ear-piercing in children under 8-years-old.
