I, a concerned citizen of this planet, wish to call for the outright banning of the sale of helium for the purpose of filling up party balloons. The world's reserve of helium is running low. Helium is a precious resource; not precious in its current monetary value but rather in its current and future utility. In our current state of technology helium is crucial in the operation of medical equipment such as MRIs and CT Scanners as well as particle physics. Liquid helium (4°K|-269°C|-452°F) is used to cool superconducting magnets. This significantly lowers its electrical resistance allowing it to generate a stable intense magnetic field, of which, is necessary for the imaging process of MRIs and CT Scanners, as well as in research of particle physics.
