The time has come for a comprehensive solution to this nation's gun problem. Assault weapons (i.e. semi-automatic and automatic guns) have no place in the civilized world and should be illegal, both for sale and possession. For other types of firearms, possession should be limited strictly to the confines of one's residence and licensed hunting grounds. "Concealed carry" laws in various states across the country should be declared null and void with appropriate federal legislation.
