Outlaw self service gas stations to create over 125,000 jobs

Created by M.R. on March 27, 2014

According to the 2002 US census there are 130,515 Gas Stations in the USA.
In New Jersey and Oregon it is unlawful to pump your own gas. With 1,146 stations in Oregon and another 2,749 in New Jersey, that still leaves over 125,000 gas stations that can force the consumer to pump their own gas. That is 125,000 to 250,000 jobs that should exist - but don’t. If New Jersey and Oregon can do it, so can a federal mandate.
To learn how this may stimulate our economy, crunch the numbers: 125,000 Gas Stations open 80 hours a week paying at least Federal minimum wage for each of those hours equals $6,812,000,000 annually in the pockets of Americans who can now spend it someplace else. If the number is closer to 250,000 jobs, then the bottom line climbs closer to $12 billion.
