Outlaw the use of Polygraphs (lie detectors) for any legal purpose. Polygraphs are notoriously scientifically inaccurate

Created by J.D. on March 20, 2014

While Polygraph machines (lie detectors) are well-known and are thought to be far superior in accuracy compared to any other method of lie-detection, they are not: Recent scientific research has shown that they are, in fact, only about 80% accurate. Tangibly, if 10,000 criminals were given polygraphs on whether they actually committed a crime, 2,000 would go free because they didn't get caught. For this reason, polygraphs are not usually admissible in court-- but ARE admissible in other instances. This needs to change for the safety and wellbeing of society as a whole.
