The current military promotions system is broken. It was founded on the premise that military Officers were more educated and informed than the average Service Member. That is not true in today's society. The Military currently places inexperienced 22 year olds in charge of seasoned veterans with combat experience and similar education levels. This creates resentment and inefficiency in the ranks while wasting taxpayers time and money.
A study and overhaul should be conducted as soon as possible. Leaders should be evaluated from top down and bottom up. A linear promotion system should be considered as a viable option. This would create better leaders and a more capable fighting force.
Complaints come from both Enlisted and Commissioned Service Members. It needs to be fixed now.
