Snap, or "food stamps", is one of the most ethically abused governmental program today, and must be overhauled. The program was designed to be used by low income Americans who need assistance with food. It has now become a huge burden on the tax payers who pay for this program. It is being abused by those who purchase soda pop and candy bars, or buy their snacks with SNAP and their cigarettes with cash. It should be structured more like WIC where the food is specific and nutricious. It isn't supposed to make beneficiaries feel just the same as those with cash, ( the excuse used when this topic comes up). The fact is, this is a moral abuse of the system. We, the people should have a say in what is able to be purchased with our tax dollars. Type II diabetes is on the rise. Reform!
