Money in politics has always been a problem. Now, thanks to the Supreme Court's decision granting corporations unlimited political contributions, through their pro-Citizens United ruling, it is much, much worse.
In this 2012 election, is estimated that over $1B was spent (and thankfully wasted this round -- ?) trying to buy votes for corporate-rich-friendly candidates.
