Jeff Mizanskey is a Missouri man who is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole because of a marijuana charge he caught back in the early 90's.
His co-defendant was the intended buyer of the 100 some pounds of marijuana but since Jeff was in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was also dragged into it. His co-defendant was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and the two men who actually trafficked the marijuana were never charged and haven't been heard from since. All while Jeff, who played the most minor role in the operation, sits and rots in prison for the rest of his life. I believe his 8th amendment rights are being violated, as we are guaranteed by our Constitution not to receive cruel and unusual punishments. His crime does not fit the punishment he was given.
