We have seen a rapid weakening of our federal government's problem solving abilities. The last two years, in particular, have seen record levels of dissatisfaction with Congress, a record low number of bills passed, and a refusal to deal with difficult fiscal decisions that have been crippling to our economy. Americans are losing faith in democracy because of this decision, as well as preceding decisions' protection of corporate rights over individual rights. It is a direct assault against the free speech of the vast majority of Americans to equate "money" with "political speech". For how many Americans can spend $5 million to protect their own interests? Indeed, we are much less a democracy than we ever were: we have become an oligarchy.
