The Department Of Defense has taken soldiers rights to participate in the ALS Ice bucket challenge even in civilian uniform. They DOD said, "ALS Association is a national non-profit organization, As such, participating in this event is subject to concerns about implied endorsement. The OGC is the federal agency that has final say on appropriate ethical behavior for the DOD.”
It is a soldiers right and duty to help save lives in anyway possible. This challenge has raised not only awareness; it has raised $31.5 million in donations between July 39th and August 20th. As a soldier I feel it is our civic duty to protect the homeland against enemies foreign and domestic. ALS is a domestic enemy. I have personally encountered soldiers with ALS, which means this challenge is saving soldiers lives.
