Overturn the passing of Texas House Bill 40

Created by J.V. on May 13, 2015

Texas House Bill 40 would prevent local governments from banning or regulating subsurface activity for oil/gas resources. It completely prohibits any local regulation from preventing any oil or gas operation. This is following conclusive evidence that hydraulic fracturing correlates with earthquake activity in the areas of operation and other reports finding the chemicals used during hydraulic fracturing within local water supplies. Fracking may bring economic growth for local economies, but we want to keep our right to regulate what happens within our towns, especially when it could lead to tremors and toxic water supplies.
