The Secretary of the Interior has made a last minute decision to shut down a 100 year old oyster farm on an estuary in Point Reyes National Park. This decision was made in spite of a seriously flawed EIR that has been rebuked by the National Academy of Sciences, testimony by the original legislators that created PRNP that the farming operations would stay indefinitely within the park, and petitions and pleas by local residents to save this historic and valued small business.
Some few people, mostly not even living in California, want to see more "wilderness" wherever and whatever the cost. That personal wish must be weighed against standing legislation. The Secretary must not countermand the law as defined by Congress.
