Being a Veteran myself and having friends that are Vets, I have yet to understand why such a petition like this has not been submitted. We, Vets, do not ask much from our communities and fellow Americans. However, we do receive a fair amount of compensation and benefits for serving. After speaking with several Vets, and also military men and women still serving. We have decided to question the meaning and celebration of Veterans Day. Mainly, why are Vets working on such a day? A day dedicated to those who have served and gave so much. Sure we can watch parades and events from our television sets at work. But why should Veterans have to result in working on a day that is dedicated to them? My petition is a simple request for Vets to have Veterans Day off that includes an 8 hour paid day.
