We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Pardon ASSATA SHAKUR, MUTULU SHAKUR, MUMIA ABU JAMAL and LEONARD PELITIER.

Created by S.B. on November 12, 2016

Political prisoners from an era that is unanimously agreed to have been oppressive to black people and other minorites have been languishing in prison or in exile for multiple generations. We ask that the four afformentioned freedom fighters be pardoned upon you leaving the White House. In the particular case of Assata, with relations with Cuba normalized the prospect that the Obama White House unwittingly played a role (it would be a major role) in her capture or death looms large. Let that not be apart of the Obama legacy.
They should all be set free and allowed to enjoy their final years on earth with dignity and the long overdue honor that they all deserve.
