Manning exposed secrets kept from the American public regarding the wrongs the US military had committed and are continuing to commit. The US and specifically the military has increasingly become more secretive, to the point where neither are accountable. Only due to the courage of whistleblowers like Manning and Snowden have many Americans become aware of how many war crimes our military is committing in the name of the American people and how many of our constitutional rights have been completely circumvented in the name of Patriotism.
