Pardon Doug Hughes, the 61-year-old mailman who landed a gyrocopter on the Capitol grounds last month.

Created by M.W. on May 21, 2015

Doug Hughes faces two felony counts. one count of "operating as an airman without an airman's certificate" and another count of "violating registration requirements involving aircraft." He also faces four misdemeanor charges: Three counts of "violation of national defense airspace" and one of "operating a vehicle falsely labeled as a postal carrier."

While he is guilty of these accusations, his actions are part of a long tradition of nonviolent civil disobedience. Doug Hughes does not deserve years in prison.

The constitution gives the office of the president the power to pardon those guilty of a crime. This is why the founders gave you that power.
