Edward Snowden, despite facing insurmountable national powers, bravely and responsibly released documents to improve the quality of life for both Americans and people across the globe.
His 'illegal' leak helped unburden us of our "surveillance society" and was vital in the mobilization efforts against the National Security Agency. "Nothing to hide" arguments are nothing more than attempts to reduce the length of the chain with which we are bound.
He remains exiled despite being the leading force against the continued trampling of United States freedoms, reductions in access to information, and lack of ability to make informed decisions. This is wrong. I ask you, Mr. President, to please consider officially pardoning Edward Snowden and allowing him to return to the United States.
