In 2002, Gary McKinnon, an autistic UFO enthusiast, was indicted for hacking into U.S. military computers in search of evidence of suppressed alien technology. McKinnon, a Scottish national, claims that no hacking was involved because the computers he accessed had no passwords.
Defense expert John Arquilla has recommended clemency for Mr. McKinnon, and British Home Secretary Theresa May has already blocked his extradiction to the U.S.
The Armed Forces are vital to our security, however we believe that to try Mr. McKinnon would be embarrassing to U.S. interests, and that to treat him as a legitimate threat to national security would be more damaging than the offenses of which he is accused.
We therefore respectfully petition the Administration for a presidential pardon for Mr. McKinnon.
