After defeating a string of white boxers in the ring, Johnson was unjustly convicted in 1913 of violating the Mann Act for traveling across state lines with his white girlfriend.
Congress has since passed resolutions supporting a presidential pardon. New York legislators Gregory Meeks and Peter King, Senators Harry Reid and John McCain wrote the president requesting the pardon. Only one thing is missing: the President's signature.
