President Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon permitted the Congress and Nation to "reset" the political environment without spending time and resources on a potential trial for Nixon. No mater which Presidential candidate wins in 2016, the other party will spend time and resources to try to impeach to new President. The new President will spend time and resources defending herself or himself. The Nation will continue to be divided. A Presidential pardon of the 2016 democrat and republican candidates will permit the government to focus time and resources to find common ground in order to solve the Nation's problems.
