Pardon Leonard Peltier

Created by J.S. on February 17, 2016

Leonard Peltier has spent nearly 40 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Even if he were quilty, he has already served a much longer sentence that others convicted of the same crime.
The National Congress of American Indians requested his release in 2011. Various other governments, dignitaries, and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have repeatedly called for Leonard's release. In the words of Curt Goering:
“… it is unconscionable that Leonard Peltier should continue to suffer behind bars. It is high time for the U.S. government to… right the wrongs of the past.”
President Obama has the power to stop the suffering of this elderly, ill, and widely respected citizen by granting executive clemency. It is time. Let Leonard Peltier go free.
