Marcos Eduardo Serrano –Mother is a naturalized citizen.
While still in high school, Marcos was with a Caucasian girl and stole a used TV from her ex-friend’s house. The victim dropped the charges within 24 hours and the county prosecuting attorney told them he would not prosecute. The State of Indiana insisted that they be charged with felonies. The girl’s sentence was house arrest. His attorney did not inform him of his constitutional rights and told him that if he pled guilty, he would receive house arrest and could go home after sentencing. The judge found him guilty of a felony and sentenced him to 1 year in prison. He was a model prisoner, but before release, INS took him to an alien detention center in Illinois. He was deported to Mexico. His family is suffering greatly.
