The president is the one person who can make swift and absolute justice in a country where the criminal justice system is leading citizens to mistrust their government, and worse fear for their safety in a society where the only way to assume someone can't testify against you is to kill them.
When an admitted murderer is walking free and a battered wife who fires a warning shot as her life is threatened by her abusive husband is sentenced to 20 years, people lose their faith in the judicial system.
What I ask isn't for the president to bend the law, change the law, or circumvent the law. What I ask is simply to apply it equally.
The laws of this country should protect people who use weapons in non-mortal defense over those who kill in a self-provoked argument and claim self defense.
