Pardon Marissa Alexander, an American citizen for whom Florida's Stand Your Ground law failed.

Created by M.T. on September 26, 2013

Ms. Alexander is currently serving a mandatory 20 years for aggravated assault. According to her defense, she fired a warning shot to fend off an attack from her husband in a domestic violence incident. Her husband was not shot or injured by the bullet. This incident also happened just one week after Ms. Alexander gave birth. The jury found the victim guilty in twelve minutes of deliberations, ignoring her self defense claim and Stand Your Ground argument. Need I remind you about another Florida resident, who discharged a gun into a teenager killing him, cited self defense and was acquitted. Justice delayed is justice denied. Ms Alexander was denied the same benefit of the doubt at her trial that he received. Please pardon Marissa Alexander and restore justice to our judicial system.
