Pardon Marissa Alexander from her 20 year sentence from a Florida court for defending herself against her abuser.

Created by S.G. on August 23, 2013

Marissa Alexander a young mother from Florida discharged a firearm into the air in order to scare off her longtime abuser after he threatened her life.

When she tried to invoke Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, she was denied because the court said she couldn't have been truly fearful for her life because she didn't actually shoot her abuser.

In court testimony the man who is described as the victim admits that he threatened Marissa's life, admits he has a history of abusing her and that he obstructed all her escape routes. This is a horrendous case of injustice, of the law being applied inequitably no woman should fear being charged when trying to defend herself. Free Marissa NOW and make it a federal law that any victim of violence cannot be subject to mandatory sentencing laws.
