Pardon Marissa Alexander. The Stand Your Ground Law in Florida Unfairly Discriminates Against African-Americans.

Created by B.C. on July 20, 2013

Marissa Alexander is a 31 year old Florida mother of three children who was recently convicted of aggravated assault with a firearm. Her crime? She fired her gun into the ceiling of her home to fend off her abusive husband. No one was injured in the incident, but Marissa was charged with a felony. Her claim of "Stand Your Ground" under Florida Law was denied. A Jury took only 12 minutes to convict her. This is a yet another case of how Florida's Criminal Justice System, where the Stand Your Ground Law is applied, unfairly discriminates against African Americans. I ask you to please sign this petition asking President Obama to pardon Marissa Alexander. Thank you.
