pardon Marissa Alexander's 20-year sentence for firing a warning shot from a gun in order to warn her abusive husband.

Created by G.D. on July 15, 2013

Marissa Alexander fired a shot from a gun while she was "standing her ground" in Florida. As a mother of three, she felt her safety, and the safety of her children, were always at risk against her abusive and aggressive husband.

Why was she denied the benefit of "Stand Your Ground" when the fired shot killed no one and, in fact, didn't hit anyone at all? Why must her children grow up with an incarcerated mother due to her motherly instincts in our 2013 American culture?
