The Justice Department and the Federsl criminal justice system has chosen to negotiate financial penalties for banks and their executives for their criminal conduct in nearly destroying the global economy over the last 12 years. Martha Stewart was pursued and convicted for a single stock trade as an example of moral hazard yet male stock brokers, bond traders, and bank executives just brought their checkbooks to the negotiating table. Martha Stewart built her brand from nothing into a global empire yet stood up and took it like a man despite the episode ravaging her businesses. Martha Stewart should be pardoned.
