Melania Trump worked illegally on guest visa program. She failed to reveal her unlawful work when she applied for a nonimmigrant visa. When she applied for an immigrant visa, she failed to reveal that she had lied on her nonimmigrant visa application. So she was never "lawfully admitted for permanent residence" and that means that she should not have been approved for citizenship. Here are two questions on the N-400 that she answered falsely--one is "have you ever committed a crime for which you were not arrested?" and the other one asks whether you've ever lied in connection with an immigration benefit or entry to the United States.
But we are benevolent folks. We want the congress to pardon her. But, along with her also pardon other illegal immigrants.
