To pardon Michael Giles a marine currently serving 25 years in a Florida prison for defending himself.

Created by A.H. on September 19, 2013

Michael Giles is a Marine who proudly served our great country in Iraq and he is a father. One night in Tallahassee, Florida he was outside of a club when someone without provocation started acting aggressive towards him. Michael tried to ignore him hoping it would pass. The person just kept going at it with him. By this time a group of people gather and Michael began to fear for his safety. Michael took out his legally owned firearm and shot the aggressor in the leg. Clearly his case should have fallen under Florida's stand your ground law but he was still charged with a crime. At trial despite the fact that the aggressor in court said he provoked the incident Michael was still convicted and sentence to a mandatory 25 years. Please petition Governor Rick Scott to release this Marine.
