Instead of just pardoning the bird this Thanksgiving, why not do something that will have a tremendous impact on the lives of THOUSANDS of human beings? --Pardon the non-violent offenders of marijuana laws.
Beyond the non-sense rationale of criminalizing these folks (as citizens of progressive states like CO & WA have recently expressed by popular referenda), pardoning non-violent marijuana offenders could save taxpayers millions of dollars, help relieve over-crowding in prisons, and set a truly moral tone to this holiday season by giving some thousands of persons a second chance to get their life back on track.
So please have mercy on more than that bird, Mr. President, and let the men and women locked in cages throughout the US out, to share some of the season with their families.
